wife pregnant (1)
In Stuttgart, Germany, is taking place the judgement of a man who was hired to get his neighbour’s wife pregnant.
Apparently, Demetrius Soupolos,, 29, and his wife Traute (former beauty queen), wanted a child for a long time, but Demetrius was told by a doctor that he was sterile.
To overcome this problem, Soupolos, decided to hire his neighbour, Frank Maus, 34, to impregnate his wife. Since Maus was already married and the father of two children, the plan seemed promising.
Soupolos paid Maus $2.500 for the job and for three evenings a week for the next six months Maus tried desperately, a total of 72 different times, to get the job done and make Traute pregnant.
When his own wife started to complain he explained, “I don’t like this any more than you, I’m simply doing it for the money. Try and understand.”
When Traute failed to get pregnant after six months, however, Soupolos was not understanding and insisted that Maus have a medical examination, which he did.
The doctor who did the examination concluded that Maus was also sterile, shocking everyone except his wife who was forced to confess that Maus was not the real father of their two children.
Now Soupolos is suing Maus for breach of contract in an effort to get his money back, but Maus refuses to give it up because he said he did not guarantee conception, but only that he would give it an honest effort (or 72).
Ice Prince 3
Ice Prince Zamani is on a roll, has been for about two years now. After the success of his debut single ‘Oleku’, he churned out one hit single after the next and has to the surprise of many become one of the country’s biggest music exports. This is evident in his recent triumph at the BET music awards and his string of collaborations with international artistes.
He has just entered the second phase of his career with the release of his sophomore album, more hit singles and an album launch concert billed for sometime this month. Indeed everybody loves Ice Prince.
We asked him a couple of questions and he was gracious enough to provide answers.
Enjoy.
Your new disc has an interesting title,  ’Fire of Zamani?’, what’s burning you up?
I titled it ‘Fire Of Zamani’ because that was the direction I wanted to go with the music in terms of how much I wanted to push myself to work.
Tell us a bit about the process that went into creating the sound for the disc…
It took us about a year to put everything together. My producers, Chopstix, Sammy Gyang and I spent nights in the studio and we made close to 70 ideas down for the album. On some songs we had extra producers like Don Jazzy, E Kelly, Jay Sleek. We worked on each song a lot of times before we found the perfect sound we wanted for the album.
You have a concert coming up, on the 25th of November I believe. What should we know about it and why should we be thrilled?
The concert is the official launch for the Fire of Zamani album. It’s going to be exciting because I will be performing tracks that I’ve never performed before in my life plus I have some of the features on the album like Wale, Chip, MI, Olamide, Yung El, Burna Boi, Ruby, Jeremiah Gyang and Sunny Neji supporting me that night so it will definitely be worth it.
In what ways have you grown as an artiste and a human being since your first record?
I don’t sag too much anymore and I don’t chase girls like I used to (laughs). Seriously, I am older now and I understand life a bit better than before.  As an artiste, I have more fans now than I when I made my first record.
You scored a collaboration with American rapper, French Montana on FOZ and you have worked with Wale. How did this come about?
I met Wale at the BET awards 2012 for the first time and he was quite welcoming. When we met again at the 2013 BET Awards, the conversation started from there. With French, I met him in Baltimore. He came to do a show and I was there for a show too, mutual friends introduced us and we got in the studio the next day.
Ice Prince 5
Were there artistes you wanted to work with that did not make the final cut of the album?
I wanted to make Stars and Lights with Bruno Mars but it never happened.
Let me ask you this, are you a rapper who sings or a singer who raps?
I am a musician. I rap and I sing and sometimes I MC .
You have been gradually embracing a pop sound for your music. Is this deliberate?
I did not recently embrace a pop sound. I’ve always made the same music I make now. You can check some of my old stuff on YouTube. It was and still is about the melody and the music. I never changed my sound in any way. I just make Ice Prince music!
You have been called the most commercially successful rap artiste, how do you straddle the line between art and commerce?
I have never said to anyone that I want to deliberately make a particular sound. I make music that comes to me. ‘Aboki’ is an entirely different song from ‘More’ and different from ‘Truth’ and different from ‘Juju’ and different from ‘N word’ and different from ‘Person Wey Sabi’. I can go on but like I said, I make what I’m inspired to make when I’m the studio whether it comes out as commercial or hard core.
Is there still a relationship between you, Brymo and Jesse Jagz? What is it like?
Yes, there is a relationship and they are Fam all day!
What factors would you attribute as responsible for your success?
God and honesty
What does winning the BET Award mean to you?
It means growth is inevitable and anything is possible as long as you put your mind to it.
You have been with Chocolate City for some time now, what should artistes do to avoid big label/producer problems and what should record labels be doing on their part?
Both parties need to be honest with themselves, there’s no problem in the world that dialogue won’t solve. So in the case of disagreements I suggest honest and true dialogue.
When you put out Oleku, did you foresee the journey leading you this far?
No, I did not. God just did it.

High cholesterol is not a new condition, but many people lack a good understanding of what it entails. Can you say you know, what is high cholesterol? It is also called hypercholesterolemia by the geeks who can attest to this condition affecting a growing number of people.

There are two ways high cholesterol can appear. If your blood has high LDL or low HDL cholesterol then you can be diagnosed with high cholesterol. The easy way to remember this is to think of "H" in HDL as homerun and the "L" in LDL as Losing. In short HDL is the good cholesterol and LDL is the bad.
Low density lipoproteins or LDL is the substance which builds up on the sides of your arteries. The result is the blood flow is slowed, because the LDL narrows the size of your artery.
High density lipoproteins or HDL is what gets rid of the bad cholesterol. In short high levels of HDL will help regulate the bad cholesterol in your blood.
VLDL (very low density lipoproteins) and Triglycerides are two other types of cholesterol. VLDL is composed of mostly fat and some protein. It is very similar to LDL. Triglycerides come from excess calories, alcohol and sugar which are converted in the liver and stored as fat cells all over the body. VLDL carry Triglycerides throughout the blood stream.
While many may people may not be able to explain exactly what is high cholesterol, many can explain some of the health risks. Heart disease is a major risk of high cholesterol.
Heart disease is caused by plague building up in the arteries and this affects the flow of blood in the arteries. Hardening of the arteries is the next stage that results from this buildup. The technical name for this condition is atherosclerosis. At this point heart disease is apparent and if the blood supply to any portion of your heart is shut down, the result is heart attack.
Chest pain called angina is another health risk. This results when not enough oxygen-carrying blood reaches the heart, because the amount of plague in the artery.
These risks usually happen suddenly due to the blockage happening after a blood clot forms on top of narrowing in an artery. Keeping the LDL low and the HDL high aids in limiting the plague in the arteries.
So how do people get high cholesterol? There are a number of ways to get high cholesterol. Eating unhealthy and family genes are two common ways people get high cholesterol. Age and gender are also factors that affect who gets high cholesterol. As we get older, cholesterol levels rise. Women tend to have lower cholesterol levels before menopause, but this tends to change after women reach 50. At this point women levels usually surpass men and it usually continues to increase until age 60-65.
A low-cholesterol diet can help improve cholesterol levels. Adding certain foods to your diet may be helpful. If the low-cholesterol diet does not work to lower bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol, your doctor may prescribe medications. There are some over the counter options to aid is lowering cholesterol. One product is Red Yeast Rye.
Controlling cholesterol levels should not only be thought about when there is a problem, but before you have any warning signs. If you closely manage your diet and the amount of cholesterol that you eat on a daily basis, you can put yourself onto a road that leads to a healthier cholesterol level throughout your life.
This idea popped into my head few days ago after i learnt about the terrorist attack at a certain mall in Kenya(Rip to the dead)
The world is evolving into a state of: "if they are not me, kill them all and let them die" That is why we have to face reality, anything can happen at anytime the world is becoming more and more devastating everyday that anybody can be in the situation at anytime. A world of brutality and wickedness.
Okay, imagine you have been shot(God forbid), congratulations you survived
and there is no help around, or not even sure if any is coming soonest. Chances of surviving a bullet wound depends on various factors.
The dept at of the wound created by the bullet.
If the bullet has came in contact with major blood vessels, Organs, and bones.
The distance from the hospital
The type of bullet

The survival hints below is bent on keeping you alive until help comes and encompasses all of this factors.

TAKE COVER:
The first thing to do is to avoid another taking another shot by pulling yourself up unto a safe place.

MAKE NECESSARY ATTEMPTS TO PLACE A CALL FOR AN AMBULANCE OR CAL FOR HELP IF POSSIBLE.

MAKE SURE YOUR AIRWAYS ARE GOING THROUGH AND KEEO ON BREATHING.

FIGHT BLEEDING:
Wounds opens up a groove or vent for the confined blood inside your blood vessels to make their way out and a bullet wound is not an exception. Maybe the blood are always happy to be free from running around your body that's why you see them rushing out happily through your wounds. Everything likes freedom anyway.
Stopping a bleeding bullet wound could be very hectic depending on the dept of the bullet inside the body. And also if the bullet has sojourned through any main artery, organ or even the bones. An internal bleeding is more dangerous than a external bleeding. But in every bullet wound your goal will be to contrict the affected blood vessels around the wound, and this you can do through applying either pressure or a method called cautirizing(heating up a metal heavilly and placing it on the wound) oh my God this can be so painful you know? But in critical situations like this, pain is not a factor to be added up amoung the problems at hand. To apply pressure, use a pad over the wound and apply pressure directly to the wound. If you have nothing available, even your hand or fingers can be used to control bleeding. You can still employ other methods of stopping bleeding which you feel can help in the situation.

CALM YOURSELF DOWN:
You have to be calm and also stable physically, mentally spiritually and any other ally available. Moving the affected part will push the surrounding arteries to deploy more blood to the wounded part, causing more bleeding. And also, panic will increase your heartbeat, more blood will be pumped and with the open wound serving as a channel for the pumped blood to be deposited. Then spiritually in the sense that, your soul need to fight the fear of living the body, and this you can achieve by praying to your creator.
 DRINK A LOT OF WATER:
Water will help replenish your intravascular fluid lost during bleeding.

PREVENT INFECTION:
When the bullet was plunging into your body, it cannot in there alone, it goes in with some particles of your hair, skin and also your clothe. All this particles, especially the skin will start decomposition immediatly because it is dead. And thereby setting up a breeding ground for bacterias which will end up causing an infection if not attended to. To prevent infection you have to keep the wound clean by cleaning it with water and a clean cloth. Continue doing that until the ambulance arrives to take you to the hospital for proper treatment and a removal of the bullet.
Thanks.

Marijuana is one of the most abused drugs in the
United States. In view of its widespread abuse, it is
important to know how marijuana affects your
health
. This article discusses short and long-term
effects of marijuana abuse.
Short-term effects
The short-term effects are as follows:
• Affects person's performance
Studies show that use of marijuana affects the
performance of the person. It affects severely the
educational performance of the person - gets lower
grades, fails to complete the graduation.
Likewise, if the person is working, the drug leads to
higher number of sickness related leaves,
unexplained absence, more accidents at workplace,
more workers' compensation claims, etc., and
eventually the productivity of the person declines
drastically.
• Perception, memory, intellect and psycho-motor
co-ordination impairment
Use of marijuana impairs the correct perception of
things. This is because THC (Delta-9-
tetrahydrocannabinol) in it affects part of the brain
that is responsible for focus, attention, memory, the
ability in senses, and perception of time. The effect
is excess stimulation of the brain, which leads
impairment of perception. The person feels as if
there were things, even if they are not there. Thus,
the person feels hallucinated.
The THC also affects the normal functioning of the
brain and this causes anxiety, nervousness, etc. in
the abuser. Further, it leads to loss of co-
ordination between the brain and the limbs. Thus,
the person is unable to react timely in certain
situations such as while driving a vehicle.
• Low motivation
Marijuana leads to depression in the person and
they do not like to participate in activities that
could bring rewards. The person has unreasonable
fear, and has low motivation to pursue the normal
course of activities.
Long-term effects
Use of this drug causes certain effects in the long
run. We discuss them here briefly.
• Addiction
Marijuana if consumed regularly, the person
becomes addicted to it. Research shows that nine
per cent of users get addicted to the drug. This
number is higher in young starters (17 percent)
and 20 to 25 percent in daily users. There are
close to 4.5 million people addicted to the drug in
the United States. (Source: National Institute on
Drug Abuse, USA).
The addictive effect of this drug is because of the
THC component in it, which makes the brain less
receptive to the drug with each passing day. As a
result, the person has to use more of it to get
similar effect, and therefore gets addicted to the
drug in the long run.
• Reduced immunity
Studies show that marijuana affects the immunity
in the body because the system becomes less
sensitive to external agents, even to harmful
microbes. Marijuana may affect the T-cells in the
immune system of the lungs.
• Risk of bronchitis
Prolonged use of marijuana may cause respiratory
issues and increase the risk of bronchitis. The
chemicals produced, as a result of combustion
while smoking, get deposited in the lungs and this
leads to bronchitis condition.
Marijuana is one of the most harmful substances
that causes addiction and affects the most
productive and formative periods of people. It is,
therefore, sensible to stay away from this drug.

philippines-typhoon-baby

A national state of calamity has been declared in the Phillipines as the country reels from the destruction of Typhoon Haiyan, with an expected death toll expected to reach tens of thousands.
The president, Benigno Aquino, on Monday declared emergency measures to get aid to the many millions of people left destitute by the superstorm, and promised them that “help will reach you faster and faster”.
“My appeal to you all is: remaining calm, praying, co-operating with, and assisting one another are the things that will help us to rise from this calamity,” he said in a televised address.
An international relief effort began in earnest on Monday, with a host of countries and organisations including the US, the EU, New Zealand and Australia pledging relief to the Philippines.
The worst hit area, Tacloban, was all but flattened by the typhoon’s 300km an hour winds and storm surge, with only some concrete buildings left standing. It is here that officials believed up to 10,000 have died.
Philippine soldiers were distributing food and water in Tacloban, and assessment teams from the UN and other international agencies were seen for the first time. The US military dispatched food, water, generators and a contingent of marines to the city, the first outside help in what will swell into a major international relief mission.
“I don’t believe there is a single structure that is not destroyed or severely damaged in some way – every single building, every single house,” said US Marine Brigadier General Paul Kennedy after taking a helicopter flight over the city.
Amid the disaster, 21-year-old Emily Sagalis cried tears of joy after giving birth to a “miracle” girl in a typhoon-ravaged Philippine city. She named the baby after her mother who went missing in the storm.
The girl was born Monday in a destroyed airport compound that was turned into a makeshift medical centre, with her bed a piece of dirty plywood resting amid dirt, broken glass, twisted metal, nails and other debris.
“She is so beautiful. I will name her Bea Joy in honour of my mother, Beatriz,” Mrs Sagalis whispered shortly after giving birth.
Mrs Sagalis said her mother was swept away when giant waves generated by Super Typhoon Haiyan surged into their home near Tacloban city, the capital of Leyte province which was one of the worst-hit areas, and she has not been seen since.
“She is my miracle. I had thought I would die with her still inside me when high waves came and took us all away,” she said, as her teary-eyed husband, Jobert, clasped the baby and a volunteer held an IV drip above them.
The husband said the first wave that came carried their wooden home in the coastal town of San Jose many metres inland, washing all of the family outside.
He said the entire community had been washed away, with the once picturesque area replaced by rubble and the bloated remains of people and animals.
“We are supposed to be celebrating today, but we are also mourning our dead,” Jobert said.
He said it was God’s will that he found his wife floating amongst the debris.
Authorities have said at least 9.7 million people in 41 provinces were affected by the typhoon.
Expecting women require more protein, iron, foliate and iodine but only a small boost in energy (kilojoules). Folic acid supplements prior to and after conception could decrease the risk of neural tube flaws such as spina bifida. Little regular treats may help nausea or morning health issues. Drinking alcoholic beverages prenatal might affect your coming child.
Good nourishment during pregnancy can aid to keep you and your developing baby healthy and balanced. The necessity for certain nutrients, such as iron and foliate, is raised at this time yet just a small amount of added power (kilojoules) is needed.
If you are pregnant, an excellent technique is to eat to satisfy your hunger and remain to oversee your weight. A normal weight gain over the course of a pregnancy is around 10- 13kg for females that were a healthy and balanced weight prior to conception.
An assorted diet plan typically provides our bodies with enough of each vitamin and mineral daily. However, expectant women might need supplements of particular supplements or minerals. Be recommended by your medical professional prior to taking supplements.

Dried grains and lentils.
Nuts and seeds.
Green leafy vegetables.

Foliate (referred to as folic acid when contributed to meals) is a B-group vitamin found in a selection of foods. Foliate demands rise substantially in pregnancy so females ought to intend to eat at least 600mcg (micrograms) of foliate from their normal daily diet.
As well as a healthy diet plan, it is recommended that females intending a pregnancy take an extra 400mcg of folic acid every day for a month previously and 3 months after fertilization. This could be taken as a supplement or through fortified foods, (food to which foliate has actually been added throughout production). Foliate taken over this duration can stop up until seven from 10 cases of neural tube flaws.
All wheat flour used in bread making in Australia should now have folic acid (with the exemption of flour utilized in 'natural' bread). Three pieces of fortified bread (100g) has an average of 120mcg of folic acid.
Morning meal cereals and fruit juices have folic acid added.
Foliate in your meal.
The following are superb food sources of foliate:
Asparagus.
Bran scales.
Broccoli.
Capital grows.
Chickpeas.
Dried grains.
Lentils.
Spinach.

Iron and Maternity.
Maternity boosts the demand for iron in the diet plan. The developing fetus draws iron from the mother to last it through the very first 5 or 6 months after childbirth so a female has actually a boosted demand for iron during pregnancy.
Iron losses are reduced during pregnancy during pregnancy because the woman is not menstruating and so sheds much less iron from menstruation blood loss. It is useful to like meals that excel sources of iron in the diet plan each day (for instance, red meat) and to have meals that excel resources of supplement C (like oranges) to help take in the iron.
The advised day-to-day intake (RDI) of iron prenatal is 27mg a day (9mg a day more than that for non-pregnant women). The amount required depends on the amount of iron the woman has 'kept' in her physique before pregnancy. If your iron stores are low, you may have to turn even more from supplements. It is essential to discuss your requirement for supplements with your doctor, as iron could be harmful (toxic) in big quantities.
Iodine and Pregnancy.
Iodine is a crucial mineral needed for the production of thyroid gland bodily hormone, which is necessary for development and development. Insufficient iodine intake prenatal improves the threat of psychological impairment and cretinism in the newborn.
Foods that are good sources of iodine include fish and shellfish and algae (liking nori and kelp), eggs, meat and milk products. Females that are expectant should likewise utilize iodized table salt when food preparation or including sodium to meals.
As a result of the re-emergence of iodine insufficiency in Australia, iodized salt is now included in all commercially offered bread in Australia and New Zealand with the exception of natural and unleavened bread.
Vitamin A and Pregnancy.
Although vitamin A demands do boost prenatal, vitamin A supplements are hardly ever advised for pregnant women. This is because an extreme consumption of vitamin A could cause childbirth deformities.
The best means to increase your consumption of vitamin A, if it is reduced, is with meals resources like milk, fish, eggs and margarine.

Vegetarians.
Teens that could have an inadequate food intake.
Material abuses (of medications, tobacco and liquor).

Constantly be encouraged by your physician before taking vitamin or mineral supplements.
There is no necessity for additional calcium prenatal.
Until 2006, Australian dietary suggestions recommended raised calcium consumption during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This suggestions has because been modified. Although there is a large 'shift' of calcium to the child throughout the third trimester of pregnancy (as it begins to establish and reinforce its bones), the mom's boosted capability to take in dietary calcium makes up for this reduction without the demand for extra consumption.
The suggested nutritional consumption for non-pregnant females (1,000 mg a day for females matured 19- FIFTY years and 1,300 mg a day for adolescents or those aged over 51) others the same prenatal and breastfeeding. Dairy meals (such as milk, cheese and yoghurt) and calcium-fortified soymilk are exceptional diet resources of calcium.
Consuming for two.
There is no have to consume even more food during pregnancy. It is advised that for the first trimester, a woman's energy (kilojoules, kJ) consumption must remain about the very same as it was prior to the pregnancy. Throughout the 2nd and 3rd trimesters, electricity needs need to enhance by about 600kJ a day. Improving fruit consumption to 4 offers daily (from the suggested two serves for non-pregnant women) will certainly offer all the additional power required.
The hazards of weight loss while pregnant.
Some women fear the additional weight gain of maternity and choose to consume sparingly to avoid applying health fat. Limited consuming or collision weight loss in any type of kind while expectant can seriously endanger your health which of your child.
Maternity in Teenage years.
Pregnant adolescents need additional nutrients than adult women do since they are still growing themselves. Teenagers may bring to life smaller infants since they are competing with the increasing fetus for nutrients.
Chlorosis is much more common among adolescents compared to older females are. Calcium consumption is also crucial since girls have actually not yet reached their top bone mass and inadequate calcium consumption might enhance the danger of osteoporosis establishing later in life.
Nausea and vomiting prenatally.
Nausea or vomiting and throwing up, specifically 'early morning sickness', prevail during pregnancy- particularly in the very first trimester. Small carbohydrate snacks (a sandwich or fruit) every two to three hours might give some comfort.
The following tips may also assist:
Consume some dry bread, biscuits or cereal prior to rising in the morning. Get up slowly, steering clear of sudden motions.
Beverage fluids in between rather than with dishes to avoid bloating as this can cause vomiting.
Avoid large meals and greasy, strongly spiced foods.
Suck something sour like a lemon.
Unwind remainder and enter the fresh air as long as feasible. Try to keep areas well aerated and odor cost-free.
Slowly sip a carbonated drink when feeling nauseated.
Try meals and drinks containing ginger as these occasionally relieve nausea or vomiting.

If they prefer to consume, must have much less than seven typical beverages over a week and just 2 basic beverages on any someday (at the very least 2 hrs apart).
Ought to note that the danger is greatest in the earlier phases of pregnancy, consisting of the moment from conception to the initial missed period.
A typical beverage contains 10g of liquor.
Listeria infection and Pregnancy.
Listeria infection, or listeriosis, is a health problem often created by consuming food polluted with germs called Listeria monocytogenes. Healthy individuals might experience no unwell effects from listeria infection at all; however, the dangers are sizable for pregnant women. The greatest hazard is to the coming infant, with raised risk of miscarriage, stillbirth or untimely labor. A listeria infection is conveniently handled with anti-biotics, but deterrence is ideal.
Some meals are much more prone to contamination with listeria than others are. Exclude these foods from your meal if you are expectant:
Soft cheeses, such as brie, camembert and ricotta- these are secure if offered cooked and warm.
Precooked or pre-prepared chilly meals that will not be reheated- for instance, pre-prepared tossed salads, pate, quiches and delicatessen meats like ham and salami.
Raw fish and shellfish such as oysters and sashimi or smoked fish and shellfish such as salmon (canned ranges are safe).
Unpasteurized foods.
Soft-serve ice cream.
The organism that induces listeria infection is damaged by heat, so properly prepared meals are not a risk.

Put on rubber gloves when dealing with kitten litter holders or gardening.
Shop meals at appropriate temperatures.
Mercury in fish.
It is suggested that expectant women consume 2- 3 serves of fish weekly for the good health of themselves and their establishing infant. However, expecting females or women intending to become pregnant within the next six months ought to be careful regarding which fish they eat. Some types of fish have high levels of mercury, which can be hazardous to the developing fetus.
Expectant women must:
Restriction to one serve (150g) per fortnight- billfish (swordfish, broadbill and marlin) and shark (flake), without various other fish consumed in that fortnight.
Restriction to one offer (150g) weekly- orange roughy (deep sea perch) or catfish, with no various other fish eaten that week.
Eat 2- 3 serves per week- of other fish or fish and shellfish (as an example, salmon or tuna).
Note: 150g amounts around two frozen crumbed fish sections.
Ladies should not be worried if they have had the strange dish of fish with tall degrees of mercury. It is just a possible problem when that type of fish is consumed on a regular basis, which triggers a build-up of mercury in the mother's blood.
Where to get assistance.
Your doctor.

But then, in a country where there is an unemployment insurance in place that guarantees 80-percent wages for two years if you lose your job, what’s there not to be happy about?
Among foreigners in Denmark, theories as to why the host population is so content range from its egalitarian policies to its history to grumblings that some people are simply easier to satisfy than others.
“You can reach a high-ranking politician or a director here even if you are an ordinary person,” said Josephine Hoegh, a woman from the Philippines who moved to the Scandinavian country 40 years ago.
The Danes themselves are more puzzled by their purported happiness, sometimes referring to it facetiously when data paint a less rosy picture – like when the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development said they were the third-largest consumers per capita of antidepressants.
Denmark first topped the happiness table in 1973, when a European Union survey found that people there were more satisfied with life than in any other member state.
This year, it held on to the top spot in the United Nations’ annual World Happiness Report even as it suffered through the worst economic crisis of its post-World War II history.
In the study, respondents were asked to evaluate the current state of their lives using a scale of zero to 10, where a top rating signified the best possible life for them, and zero the worst.
Denmark scored an average 7.693.
“One of the most important things making the Danes happy is the security in Danish society,” said Meik Wiking, director of the Happiness Research Institute, a Danish think-tank aiming to improve the quality of life in Denmark and abroad.
“There is a high degree of financial security. If we lose our jobs we get support, when we fall ill we can go to the hospital, and so on,” he added.
Denmark has the highest taxes in the world as a percentage of the overall economy, but many Danes value the social security net they get in return, including subsidised childcare and unemployment insurance that guarantees 80-percent wages for two years if they lose their jobs.
The centre-left government has had to cut back on some benefits – including student grants and unemployment insurance, which used to last four years – but it still presides over one of the most generous welfare states in the world.
The second pillar of happiness is a high level of trust between people, even for a stranger on the street, according to Wiking.
This could be a spillover effect from people’s high level of trust in the government, which is underpinned by a low level of corruption.
“We have a belief that our democratic institutions protect us and that the state… wants what is good for us,” he said.
Denmark’s welfare state isn’t radically different from other Nordic countries’, but in surveys the nation scores higher than its neighbours on social relationships, another reason for being happy.
“Danish society is more cohesive. The quality of social relations is somewhat stronger” than in the rest of Scandinavia, Wiking said.
The country has a large number of clubs and associations where membership often transcends class barriers. At a chess club, a chief executive could be playing against someone working in a shop.
Other explanations for the Danes’ self-reported wellbeing can be found in history.
Denmark was a European great power between the 13th and 17th centuries. But as the country’s official website states, today its size and influence “is the result of 400 years of forced relinquishments of land, surrenders and lost battles.”
“They haven’t won anything for the last 200 years, they’ve only lost, and that’s created a mentality in Denmark of looking inward and of valuing what you have left,” said Michael Booth, a British expatriate who has written a book on his adopted Nordic home called “The Almost Nearly Perfect People”.
Danes also have a knack for denying unpalatable truths, he said.
“They have the highest level of private debt in the world… but they’re very good at putting their hands over their ears and going la-la-la,” he said.
“One aspect of that is they’re very good at forgiving public figures who transgress. Like Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the prime minister who took them into two terrible wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and also permitted terrible economic policies.
“He’s really wrecked the economy, but you never hear a bad word said about him.”
There’s also the fact that the Danes don’t work very much, putting in an average of only 33 hours a week, according to the Rockwool Foundation.
Still, after initially hating the taxes, the weather and a “suffocating embarrassment about individual ambition and success,” Booth admitted that since becoming a parent, there was nowhere else he’d rather live.
“Denmark is, if not one of the best, maybe even the best country to have kids. Everything is geared to the family in Denmark,” he said.
Abubakar Shekau in one of his infamous videos. The Army said he may have been killed in July, now the Americans concur.
Abubakar Shekau in one of his infamous videos. The Army said he may have been killed in July, now the Americans concur.
Contrary to the claim by the sect members, the United States of America, on Saturday, confirmed that the leader of the dreaded Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, is, indeed, dead.
Hundreds of lives have been lost to the activities of the terrorist group led by Shekau in parts of North East, Nigeria and other parts of the country.
The Council on Foreign Relations, a top US security think-tank and government advisory, made this confirmation after a thorough investigation.
It said it is apparent that the latest video appearance of Shekau was faked.

Abubakar Shekau in one of his infamous videos. The Army said he may have been killed in July, now the Americans concur.
“In this latest 33 second video, Shekau was even further from the camera and only appeared to speak for just 10 seconds. The latest video, released on Youtube, is perhaps the biggest sham in the history of terrorism media: Latest 10 Second Sham Video of Blurry Ghost of Late Shekau,” the US security think-tank observed.
It said that “this latest sham video clip is very identical to the August video which was also circulated by AFP, “which US Council on Foreign relations discredited as that of an imposter, except it has a black drape over the old background and Shekau’s image appears to have green-light peripheral shine around it, indicating super-imposition.”
The report said that the older video was also of highly questionable authenticity, adding: “It appears ‘Shekau’ did not wish to risk thorough investigation of ‘his’ video clips and hence, he made it as blurry, as distant from the camera and as short as possible. 10 seconds only, enough time to say 5 words and quickly brush his ghost teeth!”
This is coming just as the Nigerian military announced that two soldiers and five suspected members of Boko Haram were killed in shoot-outs in the early hours of Saturday on the outskirts of Kano.
Army Captain Ikedichi Iweha, spokesman for the security forces’ combined Joint Task Force, said the suspects were planning simultaneous suicide attacks in the Nigerian capital Abuja and Kano, the country’s second largest city.
In an email sent to reporters, Iweha said “intelligence available indicates that the terrorists were in the process of finalising plans”.
He said that security forces also confiscated nearly 50 AK-47 rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
Iweha said that security is being tightened in Kano, amid fears that insurgents are fleeing to the city from the three north-eastern states currently under emergency rule.
Muhammadu Buhari.A member of the Nigerian Senators’ Forum, Yisa Braimoh, has asked former Military Head of State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, to stop accusing the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of institutionalising corruption in Nigeria.
Mr Braimoh, who represented Edo North from 2007 to 2011, in a statement, declared that Buhari was not a saint as far as corruption was concerned.
Muhammadu Buhari.
“General Buhari missed the point when he accused PDP of institutionalising corruption in Nigeria; PDP did notinstitutionalise corruption; rather, successive PDP administrations at the federal level have been fighting the corruption scourge, which includes individual politicians in public and private offices, since the military era,” he said. “I am not surprised that Buhari would re-echo the opposition’s mantra whenever it is convenient to demonise the PDP even when it is quite clear that those politicians in the PDP who used their offices to corruptly enrich themselves are today in the same party with him.
It is indeed paradoxical that Buhari, who presents himself to the world as one who hates corruption, would gladly co-habit with corrupt former ministers, serving and former governors in the APC, in a bid to wrestle power from President Goodluck Jonathan. Or can he vouch for the integrity of those questionable characters around him in the APC? If he can do so, he will sadly be putting his integrity to question; and if he cannot vouch for their integrity, why would he be in bed with them? Is it for the sake of using them to achieve his quest for presidential power? Is that not in itself dubious and corrupt?”
Mr Braimoh said that while he would not want to question the integrity of Buhari himself while in the saddle as Head of State, he believed that he (Buhari) is not a saint “as saints can only be found in heaven.”
“But to present himself as incorruptible while the rest of us are villainous politicians and individuals does not portray him as humble; and arrogance is corruption of the mind,” he said.
If you feel that your boyfriend is not that much indulged in you relationships any more, here are the signs which will help you to confirm your fears.

1. He doesn’t pamper you with gifts anymore
In the early phase boys pamper their beloved with gifts and various tokens of love, without any reason. If your boyfriend has stopped giving you gifts and is not pampering you anymore with little knick knacks, it could be a bad sign that he is taking you for granted.
2. He forgets your birthday

It is a well-known fact that men are not good at remembering dates. But your birthday is one day of the year that you should expect your boyfriend to remember. If he has forgotten this date more than once, it is an obvious sign that his mind is occupied with something more important. No matter how much he apologizes, the fact that he has forgotten your birthday more than once is enough to tell you that he is drifting away.
3. His spends nights out more often than he dates with you

Does your boyfriend hang out with his friends way more than he does with you? Has he ever canceled a date with you just because he wanted to spend time with his friends? If he has, you should understand that he is losing interest in the relationship.
4. He looses his temper for no reason

Of course, every couple has fights and arguments occasionally. But if your boyfriend is losing his temper on silly matters on a daily basis for no reason, it could be an alarming situation. Maybe he is deliberately creating rifts between you both. Or he may also be losing his temper out of frustration of being stuck in a relationship in which he is not interested anymore.
5. He starts using ‘I’ instead of ‘we’

Couples who are in love with each other usually plan their future together. They tend to use ‘we’ instead of ‘I’ because they think about their life as a couple, not as individuals. If he started talking in first person of his feelings towards you, it could mean that he is already thinking only about himself, because he has lost interest in the relationship.
6. He seems generally uninterested and aloof
Little things and minute behavioral traits are enough to let you know whether he has any interest in your relationship or not. Compare your boyfriend’s behaviour to that one a few months back. If you find that he seems a lot more disinterested and aloof than before, he might have fallen out of love with you.

Men of the Osun State Police Command have arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly killing his 10-year-old cousin, Tawa Bilawu, after he allegedly defiled her.
Rafiu Idowu who confessed to have committed the offence, said the victim lured him into r*ping her when she paid a visit to him at his family residence at Ile-Ogbo in Ayedire Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the arrest, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, for the state Police Command, Mrs Folashade Odoro, said the suspect was arrested by a team of detectives from the State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Jimoh.
According to the PPRO, the suspect who recently returned to the state from Lagos also smokes indian hemp.
The police claimed the suspect admitted that the deceased was his relative who pays him regular visit at his residence, adding that the late Bilawu was known to every member of his family.
“Tawa Bilawu met me at the passage of my house when she came to visit me on that fateful day. I asked her where she was going and she said somebody sent her somewhere but she decided to check on me.
“Bilawu later dragged me into my room where she removed my trousers and both of us went on bed. Then, Bilawu put my man-hood into her private part and started shouting. I then asked her the reason for the alarm.
“The alarm raised by Bilawu was after two minutes of s*xual intercourse between us. When she started shouting, I got hold of her neck and nose and pressed them till she died,” Idowu confessed.
Investigation into the death of Bilawu has continued, with the State Commissioner for Police Dorothy Gimba ordering that the suspect be arraigned in court as soon as possible.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, may call off its four-month-old strike this week, as all chapters of the union are expected to hold their congresses today to brief members on President Goodluck Jonathan’s latest offer.
Speaking to Vanguard, a branch Chairman of ASUU said the meeting was for the chairmen to brief members on the outcome of their meeting with President Jonathan.
He further said that the outcome of today’s meeting of the various branches would be communicated to the national leadership of the union, which will in turn convene an emergency NEC meeting between Wednesday and Thursday this week to consider the positions of various branches.
“Branches throughout the country will be holding their congresses on Monday (today) to brief our members on the outcome of the meeting with the President.
“It is at the meeting that the various branches will take position and communicate same to the national leadership Monday evening, then an emergency NEC meeting would be convened between Wednesday and Thursday.
“We have not been told of the venue, but we were told to prepare because it would take two days by road from my branch,” the Chairman, who did not want his name to be mentioned said.
According to him, calling for a strike or calling it off was not a decision taken by the ASUU President (Dr. Nasir Fagge) or the national executive alone.
ASUU has been on strike for over four months as a result of the Federal Government’s inability to implement the agreement it entered into in 2009 with lecturers.
After series of meetings and negotiations broke down without a solution to the impasse between ASUU and the federal government, the leadership of the Senate and President Jonathan waded into the matter, and held separate meetings with the union and relevant stakeholders last Monday, where new offers were made to the teachers with a plea for them to re-open universities.
From all indications, the four-month-old strike may be called off by the end of the week, as sources say the union, though may not be totally satisfied with the recent offer by the FG, may be forced to call off the lingering strike to show they are not deaf to the cry of Nigerians.

The sentimental hug they had before leaving for the airport
Heavily pregnant Annie Idibia who is in her third trimester has just flown abroad to settle down and have her baby.
She will be there till she’s had her baby and medically fit to return to the country.
You will recall that Annie delivered her first child – Isabella – in California in 2008.

Meanwhile, Annie got to share the wonderful photo of her family (above) on Instagram.
She also  ran into new mum Nike Oshinowo at the airport.
See photos below:

Annie has this to say about Nike “Had the most amazing long convo with this very beautiful woman! Gosh! I was star struck! She’s effortlessly beautiful inside out n really sweet.”

Afenifere Chieftain and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) should perish the thought of ever governing Nigeria, saying; “God will never put Nigeria in the hands of gangsters.”

Adeyeye, who was reacting to the APC’s statement that only sycophants are putting President Goodluck Jonathan under pressure to contest the 2015 presidential election, said; “President Jonathan has the Constitutional right to seek a second term and no amount of noise-making from the APC and its allies can deny him that right.”

In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti today, Adeyeye said; “Nigerians are not robots as the APC people think.

“Nigerians can compare governance under President Jonathan with what is obtainable under the APC governments in States like Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos.

“What better governance can the APC offer Nigerians? Is it the one in which a single individual sits in his bedroom in Lagos and determine who should eat pounded yam and egunsi soup and who should not in Suleja, Kafanchan, Ikot-Ekpene, Asaba, Onitsha or Sokoto?

“Is it the kind of governance in which elections are held and results of the elections are not released two years after as in the case of the Lagos State Local Government election held in 2011? Or the one in which an individual will come to the polling unit during an election and announce that he is the lord of Nigeria and must be allowed to vote without his voters card?

“Is it the kind of governance in which those who are opposed to the government are murdered in broad daylight as being witnessed in Ekiti State?

“The reality today is that Nigerians have seen the deceits that the APC represents and are more than willing to rescue the States being mortgaged by the party by voting in PDP governors in 2014 and 2015.

“Therefore, President Jonathan should be left alone to decide whether or not he desires a second a term and if he does, he will surely be re-elected for another four year term.”

Think you’re too manly to do ‘lady’ chores? Your wife thinks otherwise! What says “love” to you within marriage? It differs between couples — and even so between men and women. But let’s make this one thing is clear: men who do chores are sexy. What woman wouldn’t love it if her husband made her daily chores a little more manageable by doing the following activities?

Helping unload the dishwasher instead of planting himself in front of the television to watch sport news after she cooked his favorite dinner

Starting a load of laundry without having to be asked and without a helpless, “I don’t know how to separate the clothes” attitude.

Making the bed if he’s the last one up in the morning
Helping out with meal preparation instead of asking every 3 minutes when the food will be ready

Running the vacuum occasionally because he knows it’s your least favorite chore

These are all gestures that proclaim love and appreciation. Even if your husband is good about thanking you and being sincerely grateful for your daily efforts to make your lives comfortable, helping with the chores communicates “We are a team; I love you.” No one wants to feel taken for granted in love, and an overload of household chores can easily dampen the desire for romance.

At least 36 persons were, yesterday, feared killed while seven villages were overrun by suspected Fulani herdsmen in an outbreak of fighting between the invaders and native farmers in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

Seven farmers had been killed and over 6,000 inhabitants displayed barely two days ago when some assailants attacked Ikpele and Okpopolo communities in the state.

Narrating his ordeal, a native of one of the affected communities, who escaped the assault said, “they (Fulani herdsmen) took us unawares this time; they invaded our villages from Loco in Nasarawa State and Omola Local Government Area of Kogi State.

“But as I speak to you, well over 36 persons must have been killed on our own side while many are still missing; the situation on ground is horrible because fighting is still going on while women, children and the elderly are fleeing to safety.”

Confirming the bloodletting, Benue State Commissioner for Works and Transport, John Ngbede, who is an indigene of the area said, “Heavy fighting is still going on in Agatu. The attackers are burning down houses, farmlands, economic trees and many are also being killed but i cannot confirm the number of deaths. All I can say is that Agatu is boiling”.

Also confirming the massacre, member representing Agatu Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Sule Audu said, seven villages had been attacked while many were killed and several persons missing.

According to him, the villages under siege include Ello, Okpagabi, Ogwule-Ankpa, Ogbangede, Ekwo, Enogaje and Okpanchenyi.

Audu lamented inadequate security presence on ground in the affected communities, saying, “As I speak to you, only few soldiers are on ground who don’t even have mobility to match the strength of the invaders.

“The attackers are over 5,000 spread across all the communities and unleashing terror on my people without resistance.

“They are moving towards Oshugbudu now and I ask, what can less than 40 soldiers on ground do to stop armed invaders numbering up to 5,000?”

In his confirmation, Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Deputy Superintendent, Daniel Ezeala, said, “Five Agatu villages are currently under heavy attack. We can’t confirm the exact number of causalities or deaths for now, but I can assure you that a combined team of the police and army personnel have already been drafted to the affected communities to arrest the situation, and the situation is under control.”

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission has faulted the five-year jail term proposed for examination fraudsters. It said the law was unfair to students, who were not provided with basic learning tools.

It blamed the spate of examination frauds in the country on infrastructural deficiency in the education sector.

The Chairman, ICPC, Ekpo Nta, in an interview with our correspondent, said more examination cheats were found in schools where there was  shortage of human and material resources.

He criticised proprietors of schools, both government and private, saying educational institutions should  meet standards or be shut down.

He said it was time stakeholders examined the structure, which had been promoting corruption. He added that once the system was corrected, the individuals would be corrected.

Nta said the last time students accused of exam malpractices were brought to the commission, he investigated their background and the schools they came from. He noted that record of exam malpractices was very low in ‘top’ schools, including public ones.

“It is very rare. Laboratories, libraries, computers, dormitories, dining halls and highly qualified teachers are in such schools. How will a child who has gone through such schools be involved in exam malpractices?

“By the time you begin to check those arrested for exam malpractices, they are from community schools, where there is a math teacher for the whole school; no science teacher. And then, you turn around to arrest a child who is a victim (of the inadequacies).

“If you prosecute such a child and jail them for five years, when you never gave them an opportunity, you will only make them toughened criminals when they are out. You didn’t give them a chance in the first instance, then, you jailed them in addition,” the ICPC boss observed.

President Goodluck Jonathan, through the immediate past Education Minister, Prof. Ruqquayat Rufa’i, had introduced a fine of N200, 000 or five-year jail term or both for examination cheats.

Rufa’i had tabled a memo before the Federal Executive Council, seeking approval for the enactment of an Act to amend the WAEC Act, CAP W4, Laws of 2004 to give effect to the revised convention of WAEC, 2003 in Nigeria.

The FEC had approved the amendment, with the office of the Attorney-General reportedly fine-tuning it, before it was taken to the National Assembly for passage

Over 50 passengers of Aero Contractors Airlines were left stranded at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja from Friday night till daybreak on Saturday.

It was learnt that passengers of flight AJ132 belonging to Aero were meant to leave NAIA for Lagos on Friday, but the flight did not take off until about 8am on Saturday.

The Coordinating General Manager (Communications) Aviation Parastatals, Mr. Yakubu Dati, and an official of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, who was present at the airport when the incident happened, confirmed the development to our correspondent.

The FAAN official stated that the passengers slept at the airport after the airline failed to convey them to their destination.

The official said, “They had to sleep at the airport because the flight was delayed till close to midnight and it will be unsafe to start looking for a hotel to lodge at that time of the night.

“Some of the passengers who opted to sleep in one of Aero’s aircraft on the tarmac were asked not to do so by security men. But most of them slept in the terminal.”

Asked of what may have warranted such treatment on passengers by the airline, the official said the flight might have developed engine problems.

The source said, “We suspect that the plane did not fly because of possible bird strike that might have resulted in engine problem. This has nothing to do with FAAN. It’s purely an airline issue

“The plane did not take off till I left the airport after my duty last night. They however flew this (Saturday) morning.”

When contacted, the aviation parastatals spokesperson urged passengers to make complaints at the information desk of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority at airports across the country.

Dati said he was aware of the development and stated that the NCAA would make its investigations before undertaking any action.

He said, “There’s an NCAA desk for consumer protection where passengers are supposed to report and it’s based on the report we get that we can take action.

“After our findings, we can now decide the compensation that the passengers are entitled to once we are able to establish an infringement.”

Dati urged air travellers to first report to the airline in question before complaining to the NCAA whenever they find their carrier wanting.

He said airlines too had rights and explained that the civil aviation regulator would always balance its findings before meting out any punitive measure

The Sokoto State Government on Saturday donated 100 computers to some physically challenged students of the Abdulrasheed Adisa Raji Special School for the Physically-Challenged.

The Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Yusuf Danchadi, made the disclosure at the graduation of the beneficiaries from a three-month computer appreciation course.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the course was organised by the Sokoto State Education Development Trust Fund ( SEDTF).

Danchadi, who was represented by the Director, Sokoto State Education Resource Centre, Alhaji Abubakar Dange, said that the gesture was to assist the physically-challenged students to pursue education with relative ease.

The commissioner expressed optimism that the students would continue with their computer study after the training.

He commended SEDTF for the effort to educate the students on Information Communication Technology (ICT).

In a remark, the Chairman, Vocational Training Committee of SEDTF, Alhaji Tukur Abdurrahman, said it was imperative to educate and train students in ICT “because that is what is in vogue globally.’’

The Joint Task Force (JTF) on Saturday in Kano said it had killed five suspected terrorists in the city’s metropolis.

A statement signed by the JTF spokesman, Capt. Ikedichi Iweha, said the incident happened during an operation in two houses at the city’s Hotoro Danmarke and Brigade areas.

The statement also said two soldiers lost their lives too during the early morning operation.

“In the early hours of this morning, at about 3 a.m. to be precise, a combined team of JTF and DSS personnel stormed two residences at Hotoro Dan Marke and Brigade General areas.

“During the operation which resulted in a shootout, five terrorists and two soldiers lost their lives,’’ it said.

The statement added that intelligence reports had indicated that the terrorists were in the process of finalising plans to carry out simultaneous suicide attacks in Abuja and Kano.

It said items recovered during the operation included two AK 47 rifles, 458 rounds of 7.62 special and six AK 47 rifle magazines.

The statement said the security outfit had been achieving positive results from its operations in the state.

“The proactive reactions of the JTF have denied the terrorists freedom of action in Kano and from using the state as a spring board to launch attacks on other parts of the country,” it said.

The statement then urged members of the public to go about their normal businesses without fear as the JTF had increased its patrols to cope with the situation.

It however urged people of the state to desist from renting their properties to persons with questionable identities.

Forget that Wizkid and P-Square pack venues when they perform in and outside of Nigeria, professionalism now determines who wins what on the international music stage.

Unless Nigerian musicians want to continue to deceive themselves, popularity as a determinant of success in the music industry no longer cuts it as the South African group, LCNVL. that beat the Nigerians is nowhere near the duo when it comes to acceptance.
Popularity, however, didn’t sway the regional voters for the MTV EMA slot as Wizkid and P-Square were beaten to the final slot of the “Best African Act” by LCNVL  a few days ago.
A member of the Grammy Award nomination committee in United States told R in a phone conversation few hours after the loss that sentiment does not work when it comes to selecting artistes for the MTV EMA. “This group, from management to PR level”,  he said, “is very professional and  thorough. In Nigeria, the world has seen the quality of artistes that are there, but there are many things that are not in place and it is working against our artistes”.
He said that just last year,  members of one of the group that lost out in the MTV EMA stunned an American promoter who had relied on their popularity to list them on a three-month show in US when  he asked for the contact of their sound engineer, only to be told that they used disk jockeys when they perform.
Believing that they were being novel, he allowed them on the show for them to shock the promoter when they got on stage and started miming to their songs. “Of course that was the only show the guy allowed them to perform at in Maryland, Washington Again, there is no adequate record of sales to back up the bogus claims that Nigerian artistes make on social media, and even in the print and electronic media.

“A lot needs  to be done in the industry because we have talented musicians in Nigeria. Nigeria, in fact, is the only reason that the whole world has taken a liking to African music, but we are gradually losing that hold. Smaller countries will begin to outshine us because they do things like professionals, unlike us”,  he said.
The South African duo were voted the “Best African Act” for the 2013 MTV EMA ahead of Wizkid and P Square early this week.
LCNVL will now move on to the next phase of voting to try to secure a spot to represent the region in the Worldwide Act category in  Amsterdam.
LCNVL has been South Africa’s most successful pop act of the past five years, selling over 100,000 albums, winning the SAMAs for Best Selling Album and Best Newcomer, and touring the world, playing alongside the likes of Justin Bieber, Taio Cruz, Mike  Poser and Jason Derulo.
“Such provable information worked in LCNVL’s favour, unlike our own guys who claim they had sold millions of CDs in just one, two years,” added the American R’s source.
Bruce Gillmer, Executive Vice President of Talent and Music Programming/Events, later said “the MTV EMA highlights the biggest and best international and regional superstars and we’re really looking forward to celebrating all of the incredible talent in Amsterdam.”
The leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared that it wants an air tight deal with the Federal Government.
A top Union official disclosed this to journalists, saying the union wanted full confidence that the Federal Government would not renege on the agreement in the future.
He said, “I must tell you that our mandate remains. The only mandate we have is that 2009 agreement must be met. We have not reached any agreement with the Federal Government.
“Since the Federal Government  wants to be releasing N220bn every year for five years, then all monetary and regulatory agencies must sign. The  Central Bank of Nigeria, Ministries of Finance and Labour, National Assembly, Office of the Presidency, National Universities Commission, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Trade Union Congress and our umbrella body, the Nigeria Labour Congress, must sign with consequences stated.
“The reason we will ensure this is that we don’t want argument tomorrow that the agreement was entered in error or that they don’t know the implication of signing the agreement. If possible, documents that will provide for automatic deduction of the agreed money at a particular/agreed date must be provided.”
Another source said it was doubtful that lecturers would call off the strike as things stood with the negotiations with the Federal Government.
He said, “Truly the President sat down for more than 13 hours with us. He told us that we were not leaving the venue until the issues were resolved.  The Federal Government also promised to inject funds into the system, but a promissory note is not enough.
“Where would the money come from? There  is no assurance that government will provide money especially with the mop-up policy in place that ensures that unspent money is refunded to government’s coffers at the end of every year.’’
He added, “I doubt if the strike is ending soon.  The problem is with the Finance Minister. Where is government getting N1trn  from? A government that could not implement agreement between 2009 and 2013, what is the guarantee that they would honour this agreement.
“It is all politics.  We are still awaiting directives from our branches. We have told them the outcome of the meeting with the President but we are waiting for them to tell us what they think of government’s proposal.
“Imagine the Minister of Education has travelled out of the country. He was appointed Vice President for UNESCO General Assembly.  How can he travel out of the country without resolving the crisis in the education sector?’
