Is it a "Kardashian kurse" or is Kanye West losing his cool all on his own? In any case, popularity problems seem to be plaguing the once untouchable rap sensation.
West’s performance this week brought just 4,500 people to the Sprint Center, a venue built for 19,000, meaning less than 24 percent of seats were occupied. He has had to cancel several other shows throughout his nationwide tour and drew criticism when he stopped a Florida concert after only three songs and demanded the lights be turned off before launching a profanity-laced rant at the tech staff and storming off the stage.
So is West’s egotistical, bizarre behavior finally taking its toll on fans?
“We are often drawn to people who have an ego and confidence that is derived from their talent. But an empty ego, based on a fake self-inflated image and concept, creates an over powering sense of desperation and superficiality,” human behavior expert Patrick Wanis told FOX411.
West has made headlines frequently lately, more due to his outlandish remarks than his trailblazing talent. We’ve heard the rapper compare himself to everyone from Jesus, Michael Jordan and Steve Jobs to Nelson Mandela, Michelangelo and Michael Jackson – and amid all that talk, he has also managed to offend much of the Jewish population.
The Anti-Defamation League is accusing West of anti-Semitism over comments he made to a Chicago radio station last month, urging him to take responsibility for saying that Obama can't execute moves because "he ain’t got those connections. Black people don’t have the same level of connections as Jewish people.”
Adding insult to injury, a new study released in November suggests that West’s connection to the Kardashian family may also be the reason for his popularity decline. Q Scores, a website marketers use to measure recognition, reported that West’s popularity has dipped a whopping 66 percent since he first started dating his reality star fiancée in April 2011, and that he now ranks far below the average hip hop artist and male celebrity.
"When putting two egotistical, self serving individuals together, you'll create a rather vile spark. And in times of economic hardship across the country, bragging about materialism is typically frowned upon,” says California-based public relations expert Angie Meyer-Olszewski. “The Kardashian brand is a sinking ship. Anybody who jumps on board will eventually fall. A successful celebrity in his own right, Kanye made a horrible strategic decision by engaging himself with Kim."
And while West’s highly-anticipated album “Yeezus” initially shot to No. 1 on the billboard charts, it fell an embarrassing 80 percent the following week, the largest second-week performance drop for a No. 1-debuting album in more than a year.
Then there was the release of that scandalous music video for “Bound 2,” co-starring his topless fiancée and baby mama, which become an instant laughing stock across the web and was slammed with a viral video spoof courtesy of comedians Seth Rogen and James Franco.
Things are not exactly coming up roses in the Kardashian empire either, with recent reports indicating that the show has been on a steady decline over the last four seasons and has lost almost one million viewers per episode since season five.
But according to some communications experts, West can get back on top if he plays his cards right.
“He can definitely win back favor with fans, as soon as the attention moves back to his music since he is such a talented artist,” says Elissa Buchter, founder of Schmooze PR. “The amount of ego you're allowed to get away with in Hollywood is directly proportional to success of your projects. As long as his songs are on top of the charts, his romantic life isn't going to crush his credibility as a superstar.”
A rep for West did not respond to a request for comment.

Nigerian couple, 22 year old Aderoju Bammeke, (pictured left) and his girlfriend 20 year old Jessica Ogunyemi, (pictured right) have been jailed in the UK for being part of a Nigerian gang that hacked into the accounts of several people and stole thousands of pounds from them, Daily Mail UK reports
"The couple were part of a global internet banking scam which could have netted a phenomenal £19million after hacking the accounts of nearly 2,500 people. Aderoju and Jessica were the UK 'platform' for a Nigerian 'phishing' scam that made £41,000 in just two months.
The plot, masterminded by a gang in Nigeria, involved sending fake emails to customers of banks including Barclays and Halifax. The emails told recipients that their accounts had been hacked and asked them to complete a form with their log-in details. But when victims obliged, Bammeke stepped in and helped the gang log in to steal money.
Fashion marketing student Ogunyemi, his girlfriend at the time, helped him launder the proceeds by putting funds in accounts, hiding cash and allowing him to buy her a £2,400 Vauxhall Corsa.
Bammeke has now been jailed for three-and-a-half years at Manchester Crown Court after admitting conspiracy to commit fraud and unauthorised computer use.
Ogunyemi admitted five counts of money laundering and was given a suspended prison sentence.
Michael Lavery, defending Ogunyemi, said she had brought shame on her family, including her train driver father and mother who works for Manchester council.
He said she had been 'naive', was predicted to get a first in her degree and was no longer in a relationship with Bammeke.
Bammeke had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to conspiracy to commit fraud and unauthorised computer use while Ogunyemi admitted five counts of money laundering.
Sentencing Bammeke, Judge Recorder Gibson said: 'This in my opinion was a sophisticated fraud, a clever fraud and a fraud which could very easily have resulted in very much more substantial money being stolen.'
He jailed Ogunyemi for a year, suspended for two years, and ordered her to complete 180 hours' unpaid work.
After the hearing, Detective Superintendent Janet Hudson of TITAN, the North-West Regional Crime Unit, said: 'The actions of Bammeke and Ogunyemi caused a great deal of stress and uncertainty to many affected bank customers who had their accounts accessed.
'As a result of the investigation, no customers were left out of pocket and the offenders were arrested and ultimately sentenced. Internet banking is considered a safe and secure method of banking.
'However, bank customers need to remain vigilant and aware of the danger posed by fraudsters. Customers should only ever navigate directly to an online bank website and should never click on any link sent to them through an email.
'Additionally when accessing bank accounts online customers should always be aware of the exact address in order to ensure that they are actually on a legitimate banking website.'

Nokia has won a patent infringing battle against HTC, leading to the ban of sales of the HTC One Mini in the UK.
The UK High Court found in October that HTC had infringed Nokia’s European patent number 0998024, described as a ‘modular structure for a transmitter and a mobile station’. As a result, Judge Richard Arnold ruled today that HTC can no longer sell its One Mini smartphone in the UK.
HTC had tried to argue that the microchips found to infringe Nokia’s patent were “a very small component” and therefore did not justify a sales ban. It also claimed that HTC does not compete with Nokia in the UK, because its smartphones run Google’s Android operating system while Nokia’s running Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS.
However, Nokia dismissed these arguments, claiming that it has “lost sales of Lumia phones since the launch of the One range.” HTC sold about 715,000 smartphones worth about £221 million in the UK between January and September, according to court documents.

Screenshots (a.k.a. screen captures or screengrabs) are images of your screen that come in really useful when you need to show tech support what's going on with your phone or just to share your setup (e.g., at a homescreen-sharing site like My Color Screen. For Android phones and tablets, there are a few ways you can get that screengrab--from built-in methods to special apps on Google Play.
Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich): Hit the Power and Volume Down Button Simultaneously
Google introduced a screenshot-taking feature (which Apple's iOS already had) finally with Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 4.0. If you have Android 4.0 or later, you can take a screenshot of your device by pressing the power button and the volume down button at the same time. It might take a little bit of trial-and-error to master that simultaneous pressing. (I find that holding the buttons down for at least more than a second together avoids the annoying situation when your phone simply turns off the screen or lowers the volume.) You'll find the screenshots in your Gallery under a Screenshots folder.
Use Your Phone's Built-in Shortcuts
Some phones come with screengrabbing utilties built-in. Many Samsung devices, such as the Galaxy SII and Galaxy Note, for example, let you press the power and home button together to take a screenshot and place it in your Gallery. To find out if your phone has a screenshot tool, either check the manual or do a simple Google search for "[name of phone] take a screenshot]".
There might also be a device-specific app you can download to take screenshots and also do more with those images of your screen. For example, Screen Capture Shortcut Free works with some Samsung devices and lets you take captures after a delay or when you shake your phone. For other devices. search the Google Play Store for the name of your device and "screenshot," "screengrab," or "screen capture."
Install an App for Screenshots
If you don't have ICS or your phone doesn't have a built-in screenshot feature, you can try an Android app that does or doesn't require rooting your Android device. (Rooting gives you more control over it, so you can do things like tether your phone to serve as a modem for your laptop (without the onerous fees) or give a third-party app permission to take a picture of your Android phone's screen.)
I just hope you find this help useful.
